A fun little gift from our friends over at Minnetonka. We can’t decide which is cuter, the mini moccasin or the mini shoe box!

Colorful studio visit with Wren!

annettelin:

I was lucky enough to be invited to check out the Wren studio when I was in L.A.; situated in a nondescript neighbourhood, its factory-like exterior showed nothing of the riot of colour and brightness that was inside. Unfortunately the woman behind the brand, Melissa Coker, was in New York…

Meet the Press: Neelo Noory

For our second installment of “Meet the Press,” we chatted with Neelo Noory, one of the coolest girls we know…who also happens to have one of the coolest jobs! Meet Neelo, one of the creative forces behind daily style bible, Who What Wear

Describe your day job

I’m the Market Editor at WhoWhatWear.com.

How did you get your start?

I went to NYU for business and ended up taking internships in Music/Fashion to break up the monotony of school. Fashion quickly became my creative outlet and I just knew I wanted to pursue a career in it. Interning lead to freelance assisting, and freelancing turned into a full time gig at Who What Wear!

If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be and why?

No brainer, Ashley Olsen. Not only are we the same height (okay, I’m shy a few inches), but I just have a feeling she has the most organized closet ever. Plus I think she probably owns everything I could ever dream of.

If you weren’t a fashion editor, what would you be doing?

Though I’ve never taken a ballet class, I just feel like I would’ve been the best ballerina. I’ve convinced myself of this so I’m going to go with I would’ve been a Professional Ballerina.

What’s on repeat on your ipod right now?

Beyonce – Love On Top

There’s nothing I love more than feel-good songs, especially when Summer’s right around the corner!

You’re stranded on a deserted island. What 3 things would you bring with you?

My ice latte machine to avoid dying of thirst, a trunk full of the books I keep buying but never read, and my iPhone so I can Instagram.. don’t judge me.

 What’s up next for you?

I want to try my thumb at gardening this Summer.

Friends in Wren: Zooey Deschanel

To say that we’re fans of Zooey Deschanel would be an understatement—we ADORE Zooey! So imagine our excitement when Zooey wore Wren not once BUT twice last week.

On Monday, Zooey picked our Metallic Dot Petal dress from the Spring 12 collection to wear to the LA screening of her show, New Girl at The Academy. Can she be any cuter?

And then on Thursday, Zooey wore a classic Wren lace dress to sing on stage with none other than country legend Loretta Lynn! Loretta surprised the audience at the Opry Country Classics concert with the big announcement that Zooey would be playing her in the Broadway version of the Coal Miner’s Daughter.

Loretta + Zooey= dreamteam

Meet the Press: Natalie Alcala

Here at Wren, we get to work with some of the most creative writers and editors in the business. We thought it would be fun to turn the tables on some of our favorites and put them in the hot seat in a new feature for our blog, “Meet the Press.” First up we have the uber talented Natalie Alcala, one of the editors behind one of our daily reads, Racked LA!

Please describe your day job:
I’m the associate editor of Racked LA and a fashion columnist for BlackBook. I’m also an avid kale eater.

How did you get your start?
I went to school for creative writing, but landed a career in marketing and worked in the industry for a very long time. Although I was gaining amazing experience in that field, my true passion was writing, so I started fashion blogging on the side and submitted my work to BlackBook a few years ago. I began writing for them and eventually landed gigs with other outlets, which was super exciting but overwhelming combined with my 9 to 5. After attempting to juggle both careers, I finally took the plunge and started writing full-time. No regrets!

If you could interview any subject, dead or alive who would it be and why?
There are so many people! I would have loved to shadow Herb Ritts on one of his iconic photo shoots. I’d also like to chat with Lauren Hutton — her style is timeless. Then there are the musicians: David Bowie, Kathleen Hanna, Freddie Mercury, Morrissey. And Grace Jones! I can’t forget Grace Jones.

If you weren’t a writer, what would you be doing?
I’d probably be a wellness guru. I’m a major health nerd.

What’s on repeat on your ipod right now?
“Remember (Walkin’ In The Sand)” by The Shangri-Las. I’m having a major ’60s girl group moment.

You’re stranded on a deserted island. What 3 things would you bring with you?
A machete to open coconuts with (and for self defense), pictures of my family and the vintage Calvin Klein denim jacket that I’ve been wearing since I was 14.

What’s up next for you?
Summer traveling!
